We have received countless requests to be able to revisit IP bans or extended "nounban" bans with the possiblity of considering them for appeal. Often it is a request that this appeal would be directed to either ypperin or Its_. Some have stated as short as 6 months and others as long as 1 yr. I'm interested in hearing what the community, in one location, thinks about this, what kind of consideration we should give to this suggestion. What thoughts do YOU as a community have on this situation? Is it something you are completely opposed to, or is it something that should be on a case by case basis? Currently if someone is IP banned, unless it is an error, the chances of them being appealed are neglegible. Situations in which you find IP banned players: Repeat offenders hacking DDoS'ing (threat or actual proof found during screensharing regardless of whether the offense was due to provocation being retaliation or targeting) Dox'ing (threat or actual proof found during screensharing regardless of whether the offense was due to provocation being retaliation or targeting) IP ban evading (IP bans are the same as a blacklist) Situations in which you find "nounban" bans: Hacking / rage hacking Teaming with Hackers Teaming with IP ban evaders with excessive offenses Alts of those teaming with hackers/ip ban evaders Over the top excessive disrespect Two perspectives I see: By allowing IP banned players with a minimum ban time to appeal in certain circumstances could alleviate some of the "repeat offenders". Alternatively they could just do the same thing again. What I'm interested in seeing: What is your input on the situation as a whole? If you support considering these members under what circumstances or situations do you see members of these groups being considered? What concerns do you have with players in these groups being considered? What is your historical experience with the circumstance and why have you made the review you have? This is an open dialogue. That means I want to see what you guys have to say, what your concerns are, what are the positives, the negatives. Please keep the chat respectful. Give background and basis for your dialogue and conversation. The results of this conversation do NOT necessarily mean processes will change. It just gives us an idea and provides players an open platform.
