Greetings Cosmonauts! It's that time of year again, for reflection, for appreciation, to remember where we were, to where we are now. 4 Years ago today, January 20, 2015, I took on the role of Community Manager of this amazing community, and I had no.idea. what I was in for. But, before I get into the thank you's and such, I want to take a moment to reflect on where we were, where we have gone, and where we have ended up. 4 Years ago today: I took my first steps into a world that was completely alien to me (pun intended), a world of salty minermen who wanted so much to see this server, and her Owners thrive, who were frustrated and felt unheard..... because they were. 50+ pages of backed ban reports (ask @Topkektopus how many sleepless nights that kept us up) Pages on pages of backed purchase help requests No teamspeak Deadzones in warzones Alien had no pvp warps Lava had no level 30 enchantment table And OG vvar_king will tell you, the sheep spawner sign at the shop gave you a chicken spawner instead! My first conversation in global chat consisted of a player saying, "Oh great, another admin that will just ignore <insert bug here>" To which I told him to post a bug report.... Man was I chewed out, "Nobody looks at those, nobody cares about those" and assuming he MUST be wrong went to check. He wasn't. Pages on pages on pages of unanswered bug reports..... just sitting there. And for the first time I understood just why everyone was so upset. And just where to start. @Vaquxine assured me we had this and we got to work with the staff team. I think that's what makes Cosmic so amazing. You see, without the perseverance of the staff team, both old and new, there's no way that we could have accomplished what we have accomplished over the years, let alone the feedback from the community. This staff team, this community, is hand's down the best MC community out there, even if you do have your toxic days What have I learned over the years? HEAPS! Always double check the command you're about to run, especially if it affects the whole network, cause if you don't there's a chance every single faction could become overclaimable. You don't have to claim each warzone chunk by chunk, crazy I know, but you can do that stuff by radius! Warzone and region claim the pvp warp BEFORE you set the warp on a live planet or you'll be repairing that mess for months! Nobody crashes a server like a youtuber trying to trouble shoot, just ask Preston! Nobody understands pvp like hackers, it's true. Nobody understands an economy like Tennis (and if you know Tennis from Jungle you're deffo OG) When someone comes to you and can tell you precisely the setup required to get a hack to work, it probably means that they themselves hack xD Some super sekrets over the years: Some leaks are intended Sometimes we leak things and have you think we're joking (amirite Turx?) You'd be surprised just how much time those developers put in to the game! Often the things that seem super light and not too complicated are overly intricate and require more than anyone would think! Our oldest staff member has been a staffer longer than me! (do you know who it is?) @Vaquxine is an android from another planet which is why he's so fast at coding @iFamasssxD is a god at bosses and AI! We actually do read your suggestions, nearly all of them, but we don't want to sway feedback, so we don't often reply Most of Cosmic's updates are based on player suggestions in some way shape or form Yes my crystal ball does run on tears @Macky is the crazy mind behind the CCU and nobody could do it better Yes, the owners, Rob and Preston, Vaq and the Developers, and Admins all discuss updates and ideas and community suggestions and everyone works to find possible solutions to issues you guys face The biggest super sekret on Cosmic? None of this, not one iota of it, would be here today if it wasn't for the amazing community! You guys, from the youngins to the oldies, from those who are super fan boys, to salty salamanders, each and every one of you, staff included, have made Cosmic into what she is today. Copied by so many, revered, from a reputation of dupes to being the gold standard. So thank you Cosmic, for making something beautiful for all of us to enjoy!
